I have sat with my planner and my meal binder full of recipes, and not known what to put on the meal plan for the week. 🙃 There’s just sometimes when you don’t feel like cooking or even doing the whole meal planning for the week; am I right? In these times, I NEVER go onto Pinterest and search…that only leaves me more overwhelmed and exhausted with the idea of doing it. I try to keep the meals very basic and very easy on the weeks that I’m feeling like this. And these weeks will happen, so instead of getting down on myself that I can’t get it together, I KISS it: Keep It Simple, Sweetie. 🙂
So, because I get into these times, I figured there were other moms who did too. So, I came up with 5 meals that are KISS approved. 🤭Sometimes I just need to see or hear someone else’s ideas, and it kick starts my brain; or I just “steal” the ideas altogether and call it a day! Either way, I hope these bless your over worked mom brain. ❤️
Spaghetti
So simple, right? Get yourself a jar of spaghetti sauce, a pound of hamburger and some spaghetti noodles and voila, you have dinner. Now, you can make it a bit more bougie and add a salad and garlic bread with it or you can just do the spaghetti. Either way, you made dinner!
French Bread Pizza
Easy-peasy meal. Get a French bread from the bakery at the grocery store, a jar of pizza sauce, some pizza cheese and any other toppings you would like, and you have dinner. Again, you could pair this with a salad or fries or just leave it as is with just the pizza. So yummy and easy!
Make Your Own Italians
From my short time living in Arizona, I know not everyone calls these sandwiches Italians but once I describe it, you can fill in the name you call them 😉. I get Italian rolls from the grocery store (sub rolls could work for this too), deli ham, deli cheese, green peppers (or any color pepper would work for this), onions, tomatoes and pickles. Black olives would also be a good add on too, but I never think of it 🤷♀️ You just place all those ingredients in the Italian or sub roll and dinner is done. I usually have chips with this as a side.
Breakfast For Dinner
You can’t get any easier than this. Make some French toast or scramble up some eggs, get some sausage or bacon or both! Add some fruit and dinner is served. So simple!
Now, I understand that some people just cannot stand the thought of having breakfast for dinner, I have a cousin that can’t stand the thought of it. If this is you, that’s okay, just choose something else that is simple and make that instead 🙂

Nachos
Last, but certainly not least, is a super easy meal. The hardest part is cooking up the hamburger (or the chicken if you want to use that instead). I just get a cookie sheet out and start layering the ingredients…. tortilla chips, hamburger, salsa, cheese and black olives, and then stick it in the oven. I sometimes don’t even get plates out; we just eat right from the cookie sheet! So, this meal can be easy to make and easy to clean up! Win-win!
Remember, there’s no shame in keeping it simple when life feels heavy or overwhelming. We all have those weeks where meal planning feels like too much, and that's okay! The goal is to feed your family without losing your sanity, and these "KISS approved" meals are here to save you from the stress. So, the next time you’re staring at your planner, feeling a little stuck, just know that even the simplest meal can be a blessing to your family—and to you! Keep It Simple, Sweetie and give yourself grace. You’ve got this! ❤️
